Our Beliefs
In this section, we present the core beliefs of "Iglesia Cristiana Seguidores del Camino." These convictions are based on the Word of God and guide us as a faith community in our worship, teaching, service, and daily life.
God
We believe in one living and true God, the sovereign Creator of all things visible and invisible, who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct persons, equal in divine essence and glory. We believe that God has revealed Himself through creation, as described in Psalm 19, through the human conscience, as Paul teaches in Romans 2:14–16, through the Holy Scriptures, which were supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21), and through the person of Jesus Christ, God the Son, as affirmed in Hebrews 1:1–3. We believe that God is infinite, eternal, immutable, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, perfect in love, holiness, justice, righteousness, truthfulness, faithfulness, goodness, wisdom, mercy, and that He alone is worthy of all glory, praise, and worship.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, given by divine revelation and written by human authors under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it is wholly true and trustworthy. We believe that the Holy Scriptures in the Bible are the final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living. We believe that the Scriptures must be interpreted under the guidance and illumination of the Holy Spirit, with careful attention to their historical, grammatical, and literary contexts, and with each passage understood in light of the whole biblical canon.
Humanity
We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His image and likeness, with dignity, value, and responsibility before Him as stewards of His creation. We believe that because humanity bears the image of God, all human life must be valued and protected. We believe that marriage is a covenant ordained by God between one man and one woman, intended to reflect the image of God, advance God’s purposes in creation through the procreation of children, and serve as a living illustration of the relationship between Christ and His Church.
The Fall
We believe that Adam and Eve were created without sin, but that sin entered the world through their disobedience. We believe that sin brought profound corruption to all creation, including death and separation in the relationship between God and humanity. We believe that, because of the Fall, all human beings possess a sinful nature and are in need of God’s redemption.
God’s Redemptive Plan
We believe that God, in His sovereignty, established a redemptive plan by forming a people for Himself, Israel, from whom a Savior would come to restore the broken relationship between God and humanity and to establish His eternal kingdom. We believe that throughout the Scriptures, God reveals this Savior to be Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ.
The Work of Christ
We believe that Christ Jesus, while fully retaining His divinity, became fully human, one Person with two natures, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for humanity’s sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to reign and intercede for believers, and will return to consummate God’s redemptive plan.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, it is received by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, and that this faith is accompanied by repentance and evidenced by a life of obedience to God. We believe that through the work of the Holy Spirit, the believer is born again, justified by God, sanctified, and ultimately glorified in God’s presence.
The Gospel
We believe that the Gospel is the good news of salvation through God’s redemptive plan and the work of Jesus Christ. We believe that this salvation is granted by grace to all who genuinely place their faith in Christ as Lord and Savior, leading them to repentance and obedience to God.
The Church
We believe that the Church is composed of redeemed believers who form the body of Christ and live under His lordship. We believe that while the universal Church includes all believers throughout the world and across time, the Church also expresses itself locally in communities through autonomous congregations of believers. We believe that the Church has been commissioned under the authority of Christ to proclaim the gospel and to make disciples who love God and people, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Church exists to glorify God, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, observe baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and live in love, worship, and service according to the Word of God, and in expectation of the return of Christ.
The Return of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead, resurrect and transform believers, and establish the fullness of the kingdom of God. We live with the firm and certain hope of the new heavens and the new earth, where God will dwell with His people forever. Trusting in this promise, the Church proclaims: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20, ESV).
